Zig Zag Sewing are the leaders in sewing needs in Newcastle. They supply a huge range of sewing, quilting and overlocker machines as well as thousands of sewing items and also have an onsite training facility for their customers to improve their skills and learn how to use their new machines.
Their previous ecommerce website was underperforming and had various errors, leading to a less than desirable user experience. Their online store featured almost 200 products but the store was not fully activated, with over 95% of the products unavailable for purchase, leading to very little sales coming through the site. The site also performed poorly on mobile devices.
We proposed a fresh, clean, new look that showcased their brand and offered a positive user experience. We created a new custom theme for them and were able to export all their products from the old website for a full import into the new site. We also installed a plugin that calculated shipping costs from the product weight and measurements, which ensures that they do not lose profit from miscalculated shipping costs. Zig Zag Sewing also uses an event calendar to schedule their classes. We included a new calendar that we matched to the website theme and colours, tying everything together. We also ensured that the website was optimised for mobile devices as more than 50% of web users make purchases using their mobile phones.
We also helped them tweak their logo and modernise it, incorporating a new colour scheme.
