With a long history of broadcasting in the Great Lakes (now known as the “Barrington Coast”) region since 1986, Great Lakes FM is a local community radio station that broadcasts 24 hours a day, live from their studio located in the twin towns of Forster-Tuncurry, NSW, our home town.
We inherited the Great Lakes FM website from another website design agency, with a goal of completely modernising their existing website and improving the flow of information throughout to make it easier for the user to find what they’re looking for. Being a 100% volunteer run radio station in NSW, their budget wasn’t huge, but we wanted to help out as best we could, so we didn’t let this be a deciding factor on the amount of work we achieved on the website.
The end result was a collaborative decision between us and the Station, to go with a tiled layout on the homepage that clearly demonstrates all the elements that make the Station function. On top of this, the website has been integrated with a Stripe™ payment gateway system, which provides them the ability to collect membership fees and to run competitions that collect ticket purchases through the website.
We also integrated a custom web player, so anyone can go onto the website and listen to the radio LIVE through their web browser!
